It took a little while to find but was well worth the trip. The owners were extremely friendly & stopped to ask how things were going each day. The sites were amazingly large, well kept & hook ups were well placed. We enjoyed our stay & are planning to return often.
Yes I have read all the reviews about Bluewater Key RV Resort and I was impressed, at first. The staff was friendly, the site was spectacular and the first weekend was great. Although we had paid $130.00 per night, we thought we were really going to enjoy this place. Then came Monday morning. It was like camping on Main Street at home. First came the FedEx Truck, then UPS, then local trades people, then more trucks, more trades people & more trucks. Also it seemed that every site in the resort, in addition to a 45 foot Motor home, came with at least two cars, two golf carts & three motor cycles & each one in turn had to be exercised every hour. Then came the Navy jets taking off from the local Naval station just down the highway. Every 15 minutes four jets would play chase using Bluewater Key as a point of reference. All this would go on from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every week day. The only way to get a rest from all this activity was to visit Key West, but that would only take 2 days at the most. We left early to go home and get some rest.
This little campground is a real "gem on the Rideau Canal System" on Sand Lake. Quiet, family camping at it's best. The owners are always on site & although we were only there for the weekend they included us in all the activities, even a free BBQ.
